We’ve recently received a Super Micro 6023P-8R server from one of our clients, but are having some problems. The power for the server seems fine as the fans turn on during powerup. However, the server does not want to boot up. There are no POST beeps to indicate any errors. The 2 indicator lights on the front panel (temp and bulb) are lit up with a red light when the server is turned on as well as an amber color on the hard drive light. Would you be able to tell me if these symptoms indicate a certain problem?
If the CPU is not completely installed in the socket as a user closes the retention lever, the CPU may become loose. Moving the system would then further affect the contact with the CPU socket. Please remove the heat sinks and reset the processors. Make sure you press lightly down on the processor as you lock the CPU retention lever.
