Question |
Using X11 DP Purely platform with Intel M.2 P3100 or other M.2 devices, system or motherboard is unable to detect M.2 detect while OS installation. If I change option to "AMI Native Support" in BIOS setup menu >> Advanced >>PCI/PCIe/PnP Configuration >> NVMe Firmware Source option, motherboard/system will detect M.2 device. However, adding Intel AIC card, such as Intel P4800X, will also see this M.2 failure. Any reason? |

Answer |
For those M.2 drives without OPROM, changing NVMe Firmware Source to "AMI Native Support" is necessary. With Intel AIC P4800X which has default EFI OPROM, you will be required to change slot OPROM to "EFI" and M.2 OPROM to EFI also. Below is the summary for BIOS setting.
Standalone with M.2 >> Change BIOS setup menu >>Advanced >>PCI/PCIe/PnP Configuration >>NVMe Firmware Source>>AMI Native Support. M.2 with Intel AIC P4800/P4600 or similar NVMe AIC type. a. Change slot#x, where the card is installed, OPROM to EFI b. Change M.2 OPROM to EFI c. Change BIOS setup menu >> Advanced>>PCI/PCIe/PnP Configuration>>NVMe Firmware Source>>AMI Native Support. |
