Question |
We have a server 6048R-E1CR60N with LSI 3180 Cache vault kit, MCP-240-00127-ON and Supermicro DataCenter Management Package. When I power on the system on, the screen shows battery error:
“Your VDs that are configured for write-back are temporally running in write-through mode. This is caused by the battery or super capacitor being charged, missing, or bad. If you are using a battery, please allow the battery to charge for 24 hours before evaluating the battery for replacement.”
I tried to enter LSI utility and it also showed Battery status Failed.
I’m not sure if this is normal. Will it be fixed after fully charge (after 24 hours)? Or it is just a bad BBU?

Answer |
The error message is normal. Because configuration in “Write Policy” is setup as “write back with BBU”. When battery is “charging”, the “Write Policy” will change to “write through”. |
