Question |
I install Intel Xeon E5520 processor to X8DTL-I motherboard. The CPU seems lower than the load plate of the CPU socket. How can the CPU heatsink touch the processor properly to achieve the cooling? The processor’s temperature is high in BIOS. |

Answer |
The standard quad-core Nehalem E5520 uses regular Xeon with an integrated heat spreader. The lidless Nehalem you showed me is actually for Apple’s Nehalem Mac Pro. It doesn’t have the heat spreader, so it’s lower. Please replace the processor with standard Nehalem for Intel platform. |
