Question
I just purchased a TBS-6985 to install in the X9DRX+-F motherboard yet the card cannot be seen with lspci under Ubuntu Linux. I have tried all the tricks in the book: BIOS upgrade, i2c jumper, PCI-e Generation1 speed in BIOS and still when I type ‘lspci’ I don’t see any SAA7160 cards.
Answer
This issue is due to card firmware not being able to detect pcie slot lane/polarity inversion. You can either upgrade the card firmware if a firmware fix is available to resolve the issue or you can simply use a different PCIE slot, for example, pcie slot #3, #9, #10 and #11. Please note that you may need to also force the pcie slot to operate in Gen1 speed from within the motherboard bios for it to work.
