November
  • Supermicro launches the latest addition to the company's extensive Twin family product line, the new 2U Twin servers. These systems increase the maximum storage capacity per 1U server node 50% by supporting six hot-swap 3.5" hard disk drives. Each 2U Twin system features two hot-plug dual-processor (DP) server nodes and redundant power for high availability. The 2U Twin system supports 2 PCI-E 2.0 FH/FL add-on cards per node and, optionally, two hot-pluggable GPU nodes with redundant power.

  • Supermicro showcases its leadership in Twin server technology at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2009. Supermicro demonstrates its 1U Twin™ and 2U Twin2 (Squared) SuperServers and unveils its revolutionary new TwinBlade™ with 20 dual-processor (DP) blades in 7U.

  • Supermicro announces availability of its dual Intel® Xeon® 5500 Series (Nehalem) processor-based 7046GT-TRF SuperWorkstations. These powerful SuperWorkstations are the first to support four NVIDIA Tesla C1060 GPUs as well as three additional PCI-e add-on cards for high-bandwidth I/O. These new systems also feature redundant Gold Level (93%+ efficiency) 1400-watt power supplies and quiet operation making them ideal for both enterprise and office supercomputing applications.

  • Supermicro introduces the fastest 1U server on the planet (SuperServer 6016GT-TF-TM2). This is the first and only one of its kind delivering 2TFLOPs of computing power in a 1U form factor. Optimized for performance and reliability, the design facilitates non-blocking connectivity between the GPU and the CPU (by 2 independent x16 PCIE Gen2 connections). Powered by its Twin architecture and incorporating NVIDIA Tesla GPUs and Intel's Nehalem processors, this enterprise class server supports 2 GPUs with thermal monitoring. The result is highest possible compute density and a uniform building block for large-scale GPU Computing deployments.
     
  • Supermicro announces its full range of A+ Server, SuperBlade® and workstation platforms have been fully optimized to support the new Six-Core AMD Opteron™ processors (code-named Istanbul). This comprehensive line of solutions includes the new 2U Twin2™ with four hot-swappable dual-processor computing nodes which supports up to 48 processing cores, as well as 1U Twin™ and quad-processor 1U servers which support up to 24 processing cores in a 1U form factor.

  • Supermicro, announces its latest generation of enhanced, high-capacity storage chassis with Gold Level certified 1200-watt redundant power supplies. These chassis feature Supermicro's advanced cooling subsystem designs to deliver optimal system efficiency and TCO by reducing customers' energy bills. This new generation of 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U storage chassis feature optimized iPass connectivity, fully redundant power supplies with PMBus functionality for superior power management, SES-2 features and enhanced hard drive trays, as well as 100% recyclable, palletized packaging.

  • Supermicro unveils SuperBlade® server optimized for Intel® Xeon 5500 (Nehalem) processors at BladeSystems Insight 2009. The Nehalem blade solutions include the world's first SAS2-enabled blade server in the world, doubling the storage data transfer rate from 3Gb/s to 6Gb/s per channel. Featuring the industry's highest efficiency (93%*) power supplies, cooling subsystems and motherboard designs, these SuperBlade® solutions deliver the best system-level efficiency in the industry.

  • Supermicro launches industry's broadest lines of new Xeon 5500 and 3500 series server, workstation and blade solutions. Based on the company's latest application-optimized Server Building Block architectures, Supermicro maximizes the new Nehalem technology, which includes QPI (Intel® QuickPath Interconnect) for up to 6.4GT/s, Integrated DDR3 Memory Controller, multiple power envelops, and Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, to provide the industry's highest performing and most optimized new generation server solutions.

  • Supermicro unveils its innovative new 2U Twin2 server architecture with four hot-pluggable dual-processor (DP) nodes in a 2U chassis. Building upon the company's successful 1U Twin™ technology, Supermicro's 2U Twin2 system architecture delivers breakthrough x86 server performance-per-watt (375 GFLOPS/kW, based on tests in February 2009) to further satisfy the ever-increasing efficiency, density and low-TCO demands of today's high performance computing (HPC) clusters and datacenters.

  • Channel ranks Supermicro as the number one x86 server vendor over HP, IBM, Dell, Sun, Apple and Gateway. As published in the November 24th issue of CRN (Channel Reseller News), the 2008 Channel Affinity Index, which is based on the result of 8,000 survey responses conducted with solutions providers, ranks Supermicro as the top x86 server vendor.
     
  • Supermicro brings enterprise quality and technology to the home office with its first SOHO (small office, home office) server/storage system. Featuring Supermicro's new toolless mini-tower chassis, the cost-effective and whisper-quiet SuperServer 5035L-iB facilitates quick-and-easy installation while delivering superior energy-efficient operation.
     
  • GCN Best Product of 2008 award goes to Supermicro SuperServer. GCN describes the SuperServer 6015W-NTR as "a truly super server" and "truly the best of the best for the year."

  • Supermicro adds the world's most affordable personal supercomputer to its SuperBlade® family. New blade server system based on the SBI-7125C-T3 blade provides the industry's most cost-effective blade solution, while also being the greenest personal supercomputer and office computing solution.
     
  • Supermicro wins another Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) project. 1U Twin™ serverboards (X7DWT-INF+) selected for the presitigious Hyperion HPC cluster project. Key platform design advantages were superior compute density, memory capacity and performance optimization.

  • Supermicro announces support for the new Intel® Core™2 Extreme quad-core processor on its extensive line of new uni-processor (UP) solutions based on Intel 3010, 3000, G965 and P965 chipsets.   • Supermicro is the first company in the industry to provide the most complete line of SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) server solutions. These solutions include SAS motherboards with onboard controller, SAS Zero Channel RAID cards, SAS with SES2 (SAS Enclosure Service 2) capable chassis. A wide range of SAS systems are offered from 1U, 2U, to 4U/Tower form factors.

  • Supermicro is among the first to launch the new Intel Dual-core Pentium® D platform. Debuting at the Taiwan Computex tradeshow, Supermicro offers a complete line of servers, workstations and motherboard solutions based on the E7230, 945G, 955X Express chipsets. The new dual-core processor advantage is especially beneficial for systems that run multiple applications simultaneously.

  • Supermicro provides a full line of new SATA-optimized 64-bit Xeon servers. Supporting ZCR with SATA RAID 5 and designed for high-density storage solutions, Supermicro 1U SuperServers, such as 6014P-TR, is capable of up to 1.6 terabytes total storage capacity via four hot-swappable SATA drives.

The Super Server 6113L-8, is the world first viable 1U Itanium2 platform to meet the ever-growing demands of the HPC server and large database segments.

  • Supermicro introduces the world first and only 1-terabyte SATA in a 1U DP Xeon solution. The super-dense 6013P-T leads the industry by supporting dual 533MHz Front Side Bus Xeon Processors of up to 3.2GHz and up to 1 terabyte of storage capacity via four hot-swap SATA hard drives.

  • Supermicro offers new dual Xeon storage solutions, expanding its already extensive product line. The new SC942 storage chassis supports up to 15 SCSI or Serial ATA HDDs.

  • Supermicro unveils the industry's first multiprocessing server based on the Intel® Xeon™ processor MP at up to 1.60GHz with 1MB of L3 cache at CeBit 2002, Germany.

  • Supermicro presents the world's first 1U/2U dual Intel Xeon™ rackmount server platforms. Supporting up to 2.20GHz processing speed and PCI-X expansions, the computing density far surpasses traditional solutions. The new server lines feature new chipsets and enhanced cooling now showing at the Intel Developer Forum.

  • Supermicro creates the first dual Intel Xeon server based on the Intel 860 chipset with speeds up to 2.0GHz+! Currently the most successful, highest-volume dual Xeon motherboard manufacturer in the world, Supermicro utilizes this latest technology in server platform to satisfy its customers.

  • Supermicro develops the world's first socket Xeon motherboard, SUPER P4DC6, for next generation high-end workstations and servers. Powered by the new Intel 860 chipset, the dual Xeon processors race at speeds of 1.70GHz and above. Main memory consists of dual channel 600/800MHz RDRAM with a data bus bandwidth of up to 3.2GB/s implemented in two banks. Impressive CPU speeds and advanced memory are integrated with advanced features to provide a "best of breed" motherboard.

  • Supermicro releases the world's highest performance 1U Dual/Single processor servers -the SuperServer 6010 and 5010 series. These rackmount servers support up to 1GHz Coppermine Pentium?III processors, providing a powerful and compact solution for high computing density applications.

  • Supermicro introduces the SuperServer 8050, a complete quad PIII/Xeon server solution based on Supermicro's high throughput S2QR6 motherboard and the SC850 enterprise server chassis. Featuring 10 SCA Ultra 160 hot-plug SCSI drives and support for 16GB SDRAM, the 8050 is the most advanced, highest performing quad server/workstation on the market.

  • Supermicro was granted a US patent for its revolutionary redundant cooling power supply, which enhances protection and reliability for mission-critical servers and workstations at a low cost.

  • Supermicro opens its European subsidiary in the Netherlands

  • Supermicro expands operations to Taipei, Taiwan for high volume OEM production.
